Dolly's Story: Dolly was found abandoned and unclaimed within a Surrey council pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Dolly is now neutered, chipped, and undergoing vaccinations. Dolly came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our Dog Homing Questionnaire. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 year old, and £500 for certain pedigree dogs). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Dolly's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Thank you Lynne for saving this beautiful girl who everyone has fallen in love with.

I took Dolly out for a couple of walks and she was so sweet and easy to walk and more than anything wanted to please.
Dolly has gone on a foster break so looking forward to seeing how she does in the home.

The sweetest girl who loves people and after the awful way she has been treated deserves the world.

We walked Dolly for the first time Sunday and both fell in love with her. We took her to the paddock so she can run around but not once did she leave our side. Dolly is SO loving and such a gentle girl. Whoever homes her will be very lucky to have her. I can’t see her being with us long at all 💕

Foster summary:
Beautiful Dolly has spent 5 days on Foster with us.She is a gentle soul with bundles of energy and one of the biggest cuddle monsters I have met, she is an absolute pro at them 🤗
She is clean in the house, loves her food and treats and loves sniffy walks
This dear girl can be nervous with sudden noises and needs reassurance if a lorry or fast car goes by.
She has also shown some reluctance to get into the car whilst with us but can be encouraged in with a tasty treat
She walks beautifully on the lead and wants to say hi to anyone who will stop and see her
She did pull when she fancied her chance chasing a squirrel!
Cats are generally ignored and she managed well when one suddenly appeared in our path.
She does not jump up .She likes to come to you if she doesn't know you and if she loves you she will offer her paw
On a walk she is dog interested but not reactive and managed well when an off lead dog came up to sniff her.
Inside of the house she can bark if she hears a dog outside. We have used a squeaky toy as a distraction which works well, she has also been playing with them and carrying toys around in her mouth
It was hot whilst she stayed with us so she enjoyed early and late walks and the occasional pre bed zoomie!
Dolly has been relaxing into her stay with us and is so ready for a sofa and a lap or two to call her own.

Im lucky enough to have Dolly on foster for the weekend!! Its only been 3 hours and I have already taken about 20 photos so prepare for the spam of this absolute cutey!!!

She sat so well for 1.5hours in the car, sat up the whole time taking in the surroundings. She did a wee as soon as we got out. She is scared of stairs, so i lifted her up them no problem. I don't think she has conquered them before?

She had settled down nicely for a nap after sniffing every ounce of this place. she LOVES her food…

Dolly is the most affectionate dog i think i have ever met.

When Dolly wants attention she will simply put her paw on you, and sit there looking at you. Be prepared to stroke her for 99% of the time, she needs someone who she can be close too until she trusts that you wont be going anywhere.

Throughout the night dolly was a little unsettled, she was up every 2 hours. I know this because she would stroll into the bedroom, and id open my eyes to her paw just on either my face or arms😂 once i acknowledged her she would take herself back off to bed. Other than the occasional checking that Im still there, I didn't hear a peep from her. I left a fan on for her for some background noise.

Dolly could take off with her tail wagging, honestly she has SO much love to give and has the softest temperament considering what she has been through.

We went for a lovely morning stroll. Dolly is never in a rush lol, she loves to plod along and sniff absolutely everything. She has seen several cats and strolls past totally unphased. She waggs her tail at anyone who walks past, and they always admire how pretty she is.

We have got over the usage of stairs!! I have found she is fine going up them first, but if you walk up at the same time she dips her head low and doesn't move.

She's nervous of ducks… but loves a duck treat 🙈

Dolly is nervous of some noises, I think this purely comes down to not enough exposure. She is a brave girl and I can tell she is trying.

Dolly slept solidly all night, albeit she was ontop of me!

Shes a snuggle bug, woke me up this morning by looking out the front door and back to her leads so I took her out for a wee.

Dolly can bark if she hears a noise outside, but its just standard dog behaviour for a new environment. It isnt anything unmanageable either she has done it twice during her time with us.

Dolly has come across many cats and is none the wiser of what they are!
