Freddy's Story: Freddy's owner died and social services held him until we could take. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Freddy will be neutered, chipped, and undergoing vaccinations. Freddy came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our Dog Homing Questionnaire. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Freddy's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Original referral information: 16.3.26: We have a bullbreed cross which we are hoping you may be able to help with. He is grey and white and about 7 years old. His name is Freddy and he is microchipped. He only has one eye, which I believe he was born with, so the socket is open, if that makes sense.

He is a lovely boy but quite strong and not used to regular exercise as the owner was elderly and had her own health issues. I know!! The son apparently bought him for her when he was a puppy, and small!! Like he was never going to grow!! He has lived with cats.

He is currently in kennels under Social Services as she was admitted to hospital and, sadly, she died over the weekend.

Would you be in a position to help us? If you could, we would be more than happy to bring him down to you.

Many thanks Lx Dog Warden

Freddy came into RescueRemedies on the 30th March 26

I walked Freddy today. What a lovely boy. Very friendly and affectionate, easy to harness, but not really interested in treats. He tried to exit the kennel between my legs, so beware!
Very easy walk, taut leads but no pulling, ignored strangers and seems dog friendly. Absolute delight to walk. He did go the wrong side of a gate and a door, (one eye) and he did bump into a few things (no problem).
A little sweetheart, but apparently he is very unsettled in his kennel at night. Time for a loving home love4.gif love4.gif

I met Freddy today and he’s a lovely friendly boy! We walked past some dogs and no reaction, and whilst he had a photoshoot he enjoyed treats and affection from some other walkers! I gave him a toy which he happily trotted around with in his mouth 🥰

First walk with Freddy today. What a character he is. He is a door dasher for sure, so be ready for him.
He is strong but once he’s found his pace, he calms into a great walk. A chunk of love for sure. We met an off lead dog and Freddy didn’t even bother to register and just plodded along happily. Super friendly and really hopes he finds the home he deserves. love4.gif

First walk with Freddy today and my god, he is a total sweetheart.
For a guy with one eye, he is incredibly confident. He’s a dream to get ready—slipped his harness on with zero fuss—and he actually walks really well on the lead. Happy to be out and about.
The only thing is, the one-eye situation makes him a bit of a klutz. 👁️ Since his depth perception is a bit wonky, he’ll be strutting along all proud and then—bonk—straight into a bush.
He’s so friendly that he forgets to look where he’s going. Can't wait to walk with the little guy again.

I met Freddy today and what a funny boy he is, Darren helped me get in his kennel as he certainly was trying to escape through my legs but once in he was so welcoming and easy to harness.

He was very keen to get going but very quickly settled and was so easy to walk.

I walked Freddy around the grounds first to make sure he wasn’t too strong then we went to the woods where he went under all the stiles and had a good mooch.

I didn’t notice him have any difficulty with his lesser sight.

Freddy was very keen to get back for his dinner and I easily took his harness and leads off.

Terrific boy who will make a wonderful companion to whoever adopts him.

One eye, double the love! Meet Freddy. 🐾

Freddy is the definition of a "good boy." He is a dream to harness, listens intently to every word you say, and walks like a total gentleman.
Because Freddy only has one eye, he’s a little bit "dopey" and tends to bump into things from time to time—but honestly, it just adds to his charm! He doesn’t let it slow him down; he’s just navigating the world with a little extra character. While one eye might be missing, his other eye is constantly scanning the horizon, looking for the forever home he deserves.

If you’re looking for a loyal, easygoing companion who will literally always look up to you, Freddy is your man. ❤️
