Dolly's Story: Dolly was found abandoned and unclaimed within an East London council pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Dolly is now neutered, now chipped, and fully vaccinated. Dolly came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our Dog Homing Questionnaire. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Dolly came into our Rescue today. She met our senior Vet with Jennifer the dog warden over concern for her skin and inparticular one of her cauliflower ears. Our vet did a thorough examination and discussed possible pathways. He upped her cortisone to double to what she was already on. He chipped her and we made an appointment for 2 weeks time for her to be spayed and whilst under he will review her ears. Dolly went away with a course of Panacur in preparation also.

Delightful character full of staffie love and reminded me of Heather who is due back with us soon. Dolly is Staffie size.

Dolly is dog fluent and 'people fluent!'

We don't have any space at the moment so Jennifer is caring for her until we can take her in.

Dolly and I met today on her return from the vets.

I took her for a short walk around the grounds before settling her into her kennel with Sian.

Dolly is a real cutie and will have lots of new walker friends to help her settle and feel safe.

Met Dolly yesterday when she was out having a gentle walk with Georgie. She was very willing to take some chicken from me and I hope it isn't too long before that worried expression disappears from her eyes. She is an absolute poppet :yes.gif:

I met sweet Dolly yesterday. She was a little nervous on meeting , backing away but soon decided there was no threat and came for a cuddle. Recoving from her operation I expected her to not want to walk far which initially appeared to be the case. But a group of walkers and dogs past us in the lane and she clearly wanted to be with them. She appears to enjoy the company of other dogs and really wanted to say hello. This was the first time her tail had wagged. She also loves a walk. She is a slow sniffer unless wanting to catch up with another dog. Does not appear to be phased by roads, trucks, bikes or other people. Such a sweet little girl who needs a family to love her and show her life is fun. love4.gif

We had newbie Dolly over for a lovely weekend foster stay whilst recovering from her spay op and she was such a polite guest.

An absolute sweetheart and loves to snuggle up on the sofa and give you lots of cosy cuddles.

We haven't had the opportunity to leave her unsupervised yet but she doesn't seem to be distructive in the home environment and will quite happily sit in the room with you, whilst your eating, without trying to pinch your food.

We went on some gentle walks whilst she's recovering and came by a few dogs. Dolly liked to observe passing people and dogs but showed no interest in approaching them, just would rather watch them from afar. We found that Dolly prefered to go to toilet in the garden.

Overall Dolly would make someone a fantastic companion, she's very gentle and has lots of love to give. An absolute gem!

I had the absolute pleasure of introducing myself and a new walker to Dolly on Tuesday and she has stolen my heart. She is very happy to greet you but still a little unsure of the harness, so I made sure we had lots of strokes and she had a good sniff of it before we put it on. Dolly has only just joined us and the whole environment is strange to her so she was reluctant to leave the rescue grounds with 2 people she had only just met, but that was okay because we had a gentle mooch around in the very welcome sunshine and she was happy to return to her kennel, so she is obviously already feeling sure of her safe space. I look forward to seeing this little girl's blossoming confidence over the next few weeks unless she is lucky enough for her forever humans to find her first. She has such a gentle and friendly nature that she has popped across to our emergency boarding kennels briefly as an RR ambassador to help save another life by freeing up her kennel with us, and we are all looking forward to welcoming her back so we can enjoy more Dolly cuddles angel13.gif]

Sweet little Dolly had a couple of days break with us before going in to a more long term foster.

IMG_0808.jpeg

We picked her up from the kennels and she enjoyed the drive home, choosing to alternate between putting her head out of the window and snuggling up to the person in the back.

At home she had a good sniff round, exploring the space and finding her bearings. She loves being with people so if you are looking for a dog that will sit with you on the sofa, jump on your lap and give you lots of love and affection, Dolly is your girl. At night she slept on the bed, dead to the world and is a loud snorer 😂.

IMG_0812.jpeg

Out and about she likes a slow plod, stopping at every opportunity to sniff who has been there before. She is a little unsure of dogs, waits until they pass, or if they have come up to her off lead lets them have a sniff before they more on, then will try and follow them. She walks well on the lead but will pull if she sees a fox or a squirrel.

She had a little bark when someone new came in the house an when we saw a bike but I think she is just a bit nervous and getting used to to new sights and sounds.

Dolly is a real cuddle bug and we found did attach herself to one person in the house who she followed everywhere, however she is happy to get attention from anyone who will offer it. She is a real delight and will make whoever homes her very happy.
