Missy's Story: Missy was handed into to the pound as she killed a neighbour's cat. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Missy is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Missy came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our Dog Homing Questionnaire. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Missy's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: Have you any room at the inn? This girl is spayed and vaccinated, in emergency boarding at the moment. Very active and high prey drive, she has killed a cat and that is why she needs to be out of the area. She isn't bothered by other dogs she is a happy little thing and she is lovely with people, she just needs owners that know how to manage a dog like her, she needs a collar that she cannot slip for instance.... people are the bane of my life!! xxM

Oh welcome little Missie

Missy was friendly and affectionate, and loved her walk.

Had the pleasure of walking this bundle of energy today. She appears to love people and fuss. But more than anything she loves to walk. We walked for an hour and I think she could have walked all day. She goes at a pace but listens and stops to sniff and explore. She has a high prey drive and tried catching birds on the ground whilst out, without success. However when it comes to dogs, bikes and other people she behaves perfectly. She did shout back at a German Shepherd who shouted at her first but so would I
. A joy to walk and spend time with. We ended our walk in the paddock with a game of ball as she still had so much energy. She will bring the ball back to you if thrown. Lovely girl.

What a totally adorable little scruff pot! I met Missy for the first time today when I offered her lots of high value treats through her door. Hopefully I shall be able to walk her soon.

What a pocket rocket! I was lucky enough to meet and walk Missy today, who was raring to get going for a walk.
It was a dry grey and very muddy spring day but this didn’t dampen Missy’s spirits or eagerness for a walk. She is so light footed that she barely got muddy at all while my welly sunk in the mud.
We explored far and wide with energy to spare.
Missy was happy to take direction but likes to lead the way on a walk, to make sure she can see everything there is to see, a classic ‘on the go’ terrier.
Missy was happy to explore everywhere, she seemed a little more jumpy and nervous when we reached roads to cross, and particularly interested when we passed a farm with chickens and a noisy cockerel.
She seems energetic and easy to please, it took a long walk to satisfy her but by the end I felt we’d built some trust.
Missy is a lovely girl I will look forward to getting to know her better.
Hopefully I’ll get to see more of this smile.
See you soon Missy for some more adventures. X

Re: Missy Red Fell Terrier DofB 03.12.22 RRemedies Centre
Missy and I enjoyed another walk on Sunday and we even found a little sun.
Missy loves a scramble through the woods, with a good sniff of all the smells. As you would expect from a terrier she loves the birds rustling in the hedges, the entertaining squirrels and she was super excited to see a couple of cats cross our path.
All enjoyed silently without any sounds to alert the prey she would love to stalk.
Missy brought out her best intense pointer impression when she saw cats, but with a moment to let them pass safely and then the appropriate encouragement Missy was happy to continue our walk.
She has a tendency to use all her energy at once so as soon as we returned she was happy to enjoy a quick drink and then snuggle in her basket for a rest and a gnaw on her treat for being such a good girl.
Thanks again Missy for a spirited walk - we wouldn’t have you any other way. X

Missy waggled her whole body in greeting to new walker Aleksandra and naturally notched another heart upon her harness
This little girl is a complete sweetheart. She was very excited to be going for a walk and absolutely delighted to be following dear Wilson, she was so keen to keep up that we decided it might be better if Aleksandra and Missie took the lead and this was very acceptable to this little girl, who now assured that she wasn't going to be left behind stopped pulling
We took Missy to the paddock at the end of her walk as Aleksandra was quite reluctant to part with her
and Missy offered lovely cuddles and licks to everyone's mutual contentment. She is going to fill some lucky family's life with sunshine

I took Missy out for a walk in the woods yesterday afternoon.
She really is a bundle of joy and is incredibly cute and fluffy and so is very endearing.
She will make some lucky person very, very happy.
After our walk we went into one of the paddocks where I fully expected Missy to continue being energetic - doing zoomies, chasing a ball - but all she wanted was to sit close by me for cuddles. She is certainly a people dog.
Until next time Missy.
