Lucky's Story: Lucky was found abandoned and unclaimed within a East Midland's council pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Lucky will be neutered by receiving family when old enough, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Lucky came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Briefly met the newest addition, this lovely little boy, Lucky!

He’s a little pup with a big personality and a love for treats from what I can tell! He had his nose in my bag a few times!

He’s got big ears and though lurcher paws aren’t typically the biggest of all the dog breeds, his paws look a bit too big for him. I’m sure he’ll grow into them one day when he’s a big boy!

Such a darling little baby, I hope someone welcomes you into their home soon🩵

I collected Lucky this afternoon for a short foster. He is an absolute darling, 'all legs' as Lynne said.

He was good in the car. It's not his favourite thing to be fair, he was sick and cried a little bit but maybe it was just bad timing with a full tummy. He accepted the seat belt tether and sat nicely in the back seat without chewing or fussing. Everything must be very new for him.

He came home and went straight in the garden for a big wee, took himself out later too. He has been a little unsure and is keeping me in sight at all times but he's also playful and has made good use of the resident toy monkey. He has also enjoyed an antler. Knew straight away that the dog beds were for him and made himself comfortable as long as he could see me.

We walked up to meet my husband off the train this evening. He walks nicely on the lead considering it's all so new. No pulling and he is very gentle, even when he wants to meet and greet everyone. He was unfazed by my husband's bicycle and headgear. He met another dog nicely but clearly wanted to play and chewed its ear a bit

He's being polite I'm sure and we'll get to know him better once he's settled but he seems like he should be straight into a home, he's just gorgeous.

Lovely Lucky has been a great guest. He goes into his crate at night uncomplainingly and sleeps deeply all night. Someone has taught him a lovely 'sit' and he sits politely when he wants something. He also knows 'paw' and 'down'.

Last night he cried a little around 5am so I brought him downstairs and he immediately did a wee outside. He expressed an interest in starting the day (sat in front of his bowl and then sat in front of the living room door) but was easily persuaded to go back into his crate and went straight back to sleep.

Bless him, he does need his rest, he's just a little pup.

Lucky has had a great weekend. He's been playing with toys and tennis balls in the garden and learning commands. He's got so many under his belt now! He recently learned 'touch' and already knows 'sit', 'paw' and 'down'. He is mastering the stairs, which were confusing for him when he first arrived. And he loves a nap.

He has lost a couple of his baby teeth! He enjoys his antler, yak stick and rope toys, so he always has something to chew on.

He goes in his crate beautifully at night and has started to take himself there just to put his feet up. While the weather was nice we had a rest in the garden. Lucky loves to snuggle.

Lucky likes looking out at the courtyard so gets a boost from his training board.

He had his second lot of vaccinations on Tuesday. He was the guest of honour at the vet's, everyone wanted to meet the puppy. He was desperate to meet a dog in the waiting room, I think he misses dogs very much.

He was great at the vet, enjoyed the treats, cuddles and attention and didn't fret much over the injections. At home he allowed me to file a scratchy point off his dew claw.

We're in Dorset this weekend so Lucky had a long car journey. We managed the timing of his meals in preparation and happily he wasn't sick. He was very good in the car. I think travelling in the dark at night helped. We stopped once in a 2.5hr journey so he could wee and it was otherwise uneventful.

Lucky is such a solid fellow: he's housetrained, isn't easily startled or frightened, he loves everyone, rarely barks and is sweet and playful. I haven't had a puppy since I was a child and my husband has only known adult dogs so we prepared ourselves for puppy energy and chaos but it's been smooth sailing. The surrounding houses have been full of barking dogs this weekend and he seems to be the only one who is quiet. We've had some puppy mouthing but he's teething and wants to nibble so he gets cold carrots and yak sticks. He's easy to manage now but it will be even better soon when his vaccinations have kicked in and he can go for walks. He's happy in his crate all night and occasionally pops inside for a nap, although he prefers a sunny patch if one is available.

We travelled back to London from Dorset last night and Lucky was a star, not a peep out of him.

He still sleeps soundly in his crate, which we've moved further from the bedroom now, so he can be on his own some of the time. Our days are more or less the same - sleeping, eating, playing, training, running, chewing - and it's smooth sailing.

Lucky has met a couple of cats and is intrigued by them but hasn't gone mad. He seems interested in children's voices. He loves chasing a ball and if you have two things to throw he'll fetch and drop one at your feet so you can throw the other for uninterrupted fun.

He's a beautiful boy. I'd love to see him in his forever home with people who love him
