If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our Dog Homing Questionnaire. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Teddy's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Re: Teddy Akita x Staffie DofB 24.1.24 RRemedies Centre
Myself and Leeanne were the first to walk new boy Teddy on Tuesday
I’d walked past his kennel whilst getting other dogs out and he seemed like such a sweet boy, desperate for affection, I couldn’t resist.
At the moment he’s still a bit stressed with everything being new, he was quite humpy in his kennel when clipping leads on and at times on his walk when he could hear dogs barking/something made him nervous, I sure this will calm down once he has settled properly.
At the moment he’s not taking treats, but again I think this will change soon.
I’m hoping to try him with squeeze cheese next time I take him out as it’s normally a firm favourite with Huskies/Akita’s
We didn’t pass any dogs whilst out so can’t comment on that just yet but coming out of his kennel he was non reactive to his neighbours
I’m looking forward to getting to know Teddy more.

I met Teddy through his pen door today and gave him little pieces of chicken which he really enjoyed. He looks such a sweetie - of course it is his amazing ears which catch your attention!
I so hope he settles soon and jumps into a home asap.

Teddy was lovely to walk yesterday and jumped in the crate ..off we went. The dog mobile was also the Cat Cadillac as there were 10 cats in carriers in and he never flinched even when a meow cried out on route.
Teddy is keen to meet dogs so we bid our time before entering the reception. You get the sense that Teddy hasn't had regular walks in his past as it has a novelty feel "Oweee this is exciting"
After his op with a good bill of health from our vets, he again travelled well. He exited the van and just before he entered his kennel turned to hump me but quickly released. I went into his kennel and removed his harness and he didn't jump up nor acknowledge his neighbours and simply walked into his bed area where his supper was waiting for him.
Lovely demeanour. Friendly boy. Welcome to safety Teddy, so pleased we saved your life!

Handsome Teddy !
Since my last post I’ve walked Teddy a couple more times. He’s now settled in really nicely and has calmed massively
next to 0 humping and walks lovely.
Tonight myself and Jack took him on a good long walk and then for a run around in the paddock.
Teddy bounced around playing with us, showing off his puppy side and enjoying being chased.
I think he’s going to be very popular with us walkers

First meet and walk with Teddy. Greeted with affection, wanted hugs and a treat, which he somehow was in my pocket.
Took on a long walk which was no trouble, no pulling, just a steady pace with nose mainly to the ground hunting out smells. Met two dogs during walk, no barking or jumping just a pull as being just a puppy wanted to play.
Crossed two roads during walk Teddy waited when asked before crossing.
Can see Teddy will become a popular favourite with walking team, as he is a delight to walk and enjoys attention.

Sooty and I had a lovely walk yesterday with Teddy and Domino.
Teddy and Domino were initially curious of each other, but soon settled into the walk and all enjoyed their time out

I've walked Teddy a couple of times now and he is a lovely friendly boy. He is a bit of a 'door dasher' which is easily managed by having a fellow walker call him into his bedroom for a treat while you enter his run and do the same when you return him and want to exit. On the walk he enjoys sniffing about left and right. If you stop walking he sometimes whines to get going again. He is very people friendly and also interested in other dogs - he does pull towards them but more as if he wants to play. Looks like he could be strong if he wanted to pull you along but generally on the walk he is on slack leads.

Another casual walk with the lovely Teddy. Greeted with affection and wanting hugs. Once leads on keen to get out and zig zag along the bridleways and through the woods chasing smells. Passed a number of dogs and no reaction, happy to sit by me to let them pass.
A happy dog with a friendly face, given his ears and big floppy tongue.
